My Approach

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy for teens, college students, and adults. In therapy, I emphasize building a collaborative and compassionate relationship to safely promote change. My approach is integrative, and I incorporate psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and internal family systems (IFS) techniques to meet the needs of each client. I focus on helping clients learn effective strategies to manage difficult feelings, as well as develop greater insight into how they have been shaped by past experiences.

I specialize in supporting parents during the difficulty yet magical transition to parenthood. My early training was in child psychology, and I have advanced training in perinatal and maternal mental health. I enjoy helping my clients cope with the unique stressors of parenthood, develop insight into how their own childhoods inform their experience of parenting, and feel confident supporting their children’s development.

In addition to therapy, I have expertise in psychological assessment for learning disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and diagnostic clarification for emotion concerns. I carry this expertise in the therapy room, and I am comfortable providing practical support for executive functioning and social communication differences.

I am also passionate about mentoring psychologists-in-training. I provide pro bono therapy and clinical supervision for psychology graduate students. I also consult with several practices in the area to provide assessment supervision to post-doc and early career psychologists.

My Background

Prior to my career as a psychologist, I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Princeton University. After a 2-year research fellowship at the NIH, I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The George Washington University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and a post-doctoral fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, I have spent nearly the last 10 years in group and private practice in the DC area.

My Interests

I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Personality Assessment, and an avid conference attendee. I soak up continuing education and training - both so I can continually hone my skills and also because I love learning about mental health and people. Outside of psychology, I enjoy reading, being active, and exploring the outdoors with my family.
