About Me
My Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy for teens, college students, and adults. In therapy, I emphasize building a collaborative and compassionate relationship to safely promote change. My approach is integrative, and I incorporate psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and internal family systems (IFS) techniques to meet the needs of each client. I focus on helping clients learn effective strategies to manage difficult feelings, as well as develop greater insight into how they have been shaped by past experiences.
My early training was in child psychology, and I enjoy using my knowledge of development to support teens and college students in therapy. I aim to create a safe space where you can feel deeply heard, explore your identity, and gain clarity and direction.
Throughout my career, I have gained training and expertise in therapy for adults with a wide variety of concerns. I enjoy supporting adults who are seeking help with life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, and beyond.
Supporting parents and parents-to-be is especially close to my heart. I have advanced training in perinatal and maternal mental health, and I facilitate support groups for postpartum moms through Postpartum Support International. In individual therapy, I help clients cope with the unique stressors of parenthood and learn how their own childhoods inform their experience of parenting. My expertise in neurodivergence helps me provide guidance on child development and recommend helpful supports.
In addition to therapy, I have expertise in psychological assessment for learning differences, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and diagnostic clarification for emotion concerns. I carry this knowledge into the therapy room, and I am comfortable providing practical support for executive functioning and social communication differences.
I am also passionate about mentoring psychologists-in-training. I provide pro bono therapy and clinical supervision for psychology graduate students. I also consult with several practices in the area to provide assessment supervision to post-doctoral and early career psychologists.
My Background
Prior to my career as a psychologist, I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Princeton University. After a 2-year research fellowship at the NIH, I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The George Washington University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and a post-doctoral fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, I have spent nearly the last 10 years in group and private practice in the DC area.
My Interests
I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Society for Personality Assessment, and Postpartum Support International. I soak up continuing education and training - both to hone my skills and also because I love learning about mental health and people. Outside of the therapy room, I love taking walks while listening to psychology podcasts and going to the playground with my family.
